imagine if everyone just lived out their dreams. sounds instantly euphoric at first. like a utopia of personal fulfillment. yet the reality is our life would cease to exist in the current state, for in reality it takes so many involved to make a society work, that the vast majority of us have to do things we don’t always like, but are necessary for a fully functioning and healthy society. clean water taken for granted. trash and recycling picked up twice a week, grocers stocking the store, convenience store attendants, restaurant servers, corporate executives, and the list goes on and on.

the reality is that there are certain needs each society has that must be taken care of by us. these often become our career paths or jobs. yes it is great to live our dreams, and some are fortunate enough to actually get paid to live theirs. yet we can all find fulfillment in the dreams we have on various levels.

many years ago i had a job where i was a stock clerk and there was this one slightly older man who was always so cheery to come to work at the hardware store i was at when i was 19. he always told me that work was just 40 hours a week of life spent. leaving so much more to be lived out as soon as it is finished. he loved work, and he loved life. he was great at what he did, though it wasn’t glamorous, but the customers all loved to work with him. he made their day brighter. i only wonder what all he must have been involved in outside of work besides sitting in front of the t.v.

the point is that we ought to look at our jobs, businesses, and careers as resources for a means to fulfill the dreams in our hearts, rather than being a lockdown to them. life is too short to hate the seasons we live in at times. perhaps you will be one who lives and gets paid for their dream. perhaps you won’t. either way, nothing is ever stopping us from living out our dreams on greater levels.

Just a quick thought,

Definitely have to be one who lives theirs.

Yeah! Life seems to go by pretty fast in retrospect. Might as well enjoy it, “work” and all!
